Restricted Sound Effects
What are Restricted Sound Effects?
Restricted Sound Effects include the voices of individuals who have not signed releases for the use of their voice in commercial or other production applications. The Sound Ideas End User License Agreement does NOT cover your use of these Restricted Sound Effects and any use may infringe on a person's right of privacy or publicity. To use these Restricted Sound Effects legally, you must license the use separately from the purchase of the product from Sound Ideas or any of its dealers or distributors.
Licensing the Voice of NASA
When NASA released their audio files into the public domain, some of the tracks included the voice of Jack King, the Voice of NASA. As an individual and not a public figure, Jack King was entitled to control and license the use of his own voice. Use of these Restricted Sound Effects in a production or presentation absolutely requires special licensing directly from the Estate of Jack King, and probably requires additional licensing fees.

Effective March 31, 2012 the audio file for this track was replaced to respect the copyright owner of the hymn playing in the background. It was replaced with a new track that plays Church in the Wildwood in the background. Be advised that the copyright holder of the hymn in the original version of this track is WW All Media. Sound Ideas owns full copyright in the replacement track.

With immediate effect a series of 27 sound effects have been removed from the Soundstorm Sound Effects Library due to copyright concerns. Use of these tracks in
your productions is not authorized under Sound Ideas or Sounddogs.com licensing. The Track List available on the product page on this site includes documentation
about these restricted sounds and this downloadable pdf lists all 27 tracks that are not copyright cleared for use.
Licensing the Voice of Martin Luther King Jr.
While the material presented in the product “Great Moments of the 20th Century” and “Great Speeches of the 20th Century” are in the public domain, any tracks that include voices of individuals who are not public figures are subject to separate licensing by the Estates of the individuals involved. Use of these voices in a production or presentation may require special licensing directly from the Estate and will probably require additional licensing fees for commercial use.
