Water by SerafineThe Water Collection is a comprehensive sound effects library consisting of staple water elements required for post production including oceans, lakes, splashes, underwater effects, submarines and more. It was developed and created by Frank Serafine, a recognized leader in the field of motion picture sound design and production library music. The library's contents are provided as 16 bit / 44.1 kHz broadcast wav files on DVD ROM. Many of the sounds you will hear for this collection were a result of microphones invented by Frank Serafine to create and mimic difficult to record underwater sound effects. As an example, a lot of the sound needed for the film The Hunt for Red October required many imaginative field recording sessions. During one session, high quality studio mics were covered and sealed with condoms, placed into a swimming pool and maneuvered underwater with a variety of different waterproof power tools around them. In another session, a special underwater microphone technique was invented by taping PZM mics inside a film can filled with 40-weight motor oil and then sealed with epoxy. It was then able to pick up all the subtle sounds of everything deep within the liquid medium.
The categories in this collection include:
